Cheese is Not as Addictive as Cocaine - Study Might Confirm

Have you ever heard that cheese is as addictive as hard drugs? That might be because you've seen the trending headlines from a 2015 study conducted by the University of Michigan.

According to Time.com "researchers at the University of Michigan asked participants to report which foods in a list were most difficult to cut down on or eat in a controlled way."

"Not surprisingly, highly processed foods with added fat and refined carbohydrates—things like ice cream, French fries, cookies, chips and cake—topped the list. Cheese ranked somewhere in the middle; it was considered less addictive than sugary, processed foods but more so than steak, eggs, bananas, and broccoli." This is also known as the Yale Food Addiction Scale.

There is some speculation that cheese can be irrisistable because of it's ingredient casein, which is defined by Healthline.com. "Casein protein is made from skim milk. First, the whey is drained away. Then, the remaining milk curds are washed with water, drained, dried, and ground into a powder."

To say that cheese is addictive like cocaine is a bold statement, but it is deifnately yummy!
