Trace Cyrus Pens Emotional Letter To Dad Billy Ray Cyrus: 'You’re Not Healthy'

Trace Cyrus, musician and son of country legend Billy Ray Cyrus, has shared a candid and emotional open letter addressing his strained relationship with his father and urging him to focus on improving his health.

In the letter posted on Instagram, Trace reflects on the impact of their distant relationship while emphasizing his love for Billy Ray. He also made a direct plea for his father to take his health seriously.

"You’re not healthy Dad and everyone is noticing it," Trace wrote, accompanied by a photo of him and the 63-year-old country singer.

"As I write this with tears in my eyes, I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad."

While he doesn’t know exactly what Billy Ray’s specific health concern is, the 35-year-old artist said he has a "pretty good idea" and offered to help his dad. He added that he has been a year and a half sober, and feels "amazing."

"I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea and I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help."

Billy Ray Cyrus, known for his decades-spanning career with hits like “Achy Breaky Heart” and his collaboration on the global sensation “Old Town Road,” has yet to publicly address his son's letter.

Trace, a musician himself and member of the band Metro Station, has previously spoken about the complexities of growing up with a famous parent.

His heartfelt open letter to his father follows Billy Ray's heavily criticized performance at President Donald Trump’s Liberty Inaugural Ball. During the event, Billy Ray faced technical difficulties, including a malfunctioning guitar and microphone issues, which led him to sing off-key and speak his lyrics instead of singing them. Many also found his behavior on stage concerning.

Addressing the criticism, Billy Ray told People that despite the issues, he had "a ball" at the event.

"I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar, and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me," Cyrus told the outlet.

"I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!"
