Turning Trauma into Transformation: The Work and Story of Kaz Field Anderson

Kaz Field Anderson brings a rare combination of lived experience, clinical expertise, and creative force into the world of trauma healing. As the creator of the DeTrauma Technique™ and founder of Beyond the Veil Magazine, her work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, psychotherapy, and deeply human storytelling. She is not only a practitioner, but a creator who has built her life’s work around one central idea: that even the deepest trauma can be transformed into strength, clarity, and purpose.

Her perspective enters a wider conversation through "The New Woo," a feature-length documentary from Lolli Brands Entertainment that explores consciousness, energy, and the evolving science of human transformation. The film examines practices once considered fringe through research, lived experience, and measurable outcomes, opening up new dialogue around healing, resilience, and human potential.

A Life That Redefined What Was Possible

Kaz’s journey into this work is inseparable from her own story. In the early 1990s, as a mother of two, she was diagnosed with end-stage cancer and told to prepare for the end of her life. Instead of accepting that outcome, she chose a radically different path, one rooted in the mind-body connection she had been studying through hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and spiritual practice.

In a moment that would come to define her legacy, she underwent surgery using hypnosis rather than anaesthetic, trusting both her own work and the skill of her surgeon. What followed was a recovery that reshaped not only her life, but her direction. Within months, the cancer receded completely. That experience became the foundation of her commitment to understanding how the mind, body, and emotional system interact in healing.

Creating New Pathways for Trauma Recovery

Following her recovery, Kaz moved into leadership and education, eventually becoming Director of Training and CEO for Hypnotherapy Training Australia. Her work evolved into a focus on trauma, where she saw firsthand the limitations of long-term, slow-moving models of care for individuals in acute distress.

This led to the creation of the DeTrauma Technique™, a four-step process designed to desensitise trauma and reduce emotional intensity, often within a single session. Rather than revisiting pain repeatedly, the method focuses on creating a safe internal environment where the “broken part” can be acknowledged, supported, and released from leading with fear.

Her approach reframes healing as empowerment. By reducing the emotional charge of trauma, individuals are able to access a more stable and capable version of themselves, one that can move forward with greater clarity and resilience.

Expanding the Conversation Through "The New Woo"

Kaz’s involvement in "The New Woo" reflects her belief that the world is ready for more honest, grounded conversations about healing, trauma, and human potential. Her work brings a perspective shaped not by theory alone, but by lived experience, clinical practice, and a deep commitment to accessibility and compassion.

For Kaz, the importance of this moment is clear. People are searching for guidance that is real, transparent, and rooted in integrity. Her contribution to "The New Woo" adds a voice that emphasizes authenticity over performance, and healing that is both practical and deeply human.

A Continuing Mission of Access and Impact

Beyond her clinical and training work, Kaz has expanded her impact through Beyond the Veil Magazine, a free platform dedicated to mental health, wellness, and connection. Designed to remove barriers to information and support, the publication reflects her belief that healing resources should be accessible to everyone, not limited by cost or circumstance.

At home, she remains grounded in family life as a mother and grandmother, drawing strength from the everyday connections that continue to inform her work. That balance between intensity and tenderness shapes everything she creates.

Kaz Field Anderson’s work stands as a reminder that transformation is not reserved for the few. It is available to anyone willing to engage with their own experience, supported by the right tools, the right environment, and the belief that healing is not only possible, but within reach.
