Dr. Nammy Patel, a pioneering holistic biological, functional dentist, environmental visionary, and humanitarian, has embarked on a transformative journey. Her career seamlessly bridges the innovative spirit of San Francisco with the soulful wisdom of her native India.
A best-selling author, having written for ForbesBooks, and featured on esteemed media outlets such as ABC, NBC, and FOX, well+good, Dr Oz and many more, Dr. Patel joins the Lolli Brands Entertainment documentary, “Bye Ol’ Dentistry.”

“Bye Ol’ Dentistry,” produced by Anthony and TereZa Lolli, is a groundbreaking global documentary redefining dentistry as a living system connected to whole-body health. The film brings together leading experts who are transforming the profession through biological, regenerative, and human-centered approaches. Dr. Patel’s participation adds a vital perspective on mindfulness, sustainability, and the oral-systemic connection—illuminating how the mouth can be both a window and a pathway to total wellness.
Over the past two decades, she has revolutionized the perception of dentistry, shifting its focus from mere teeth to a vital component of overall health, longevity, and emotional well-being. She’s bringing all this expertise to “Bye Ol’ Dentistry.”
From a Small Village to the World Stage
Born in a village of eight houses, Dharotha, India, Nammy grew up immersed in a strong sense of community and the harmonious rhythms of nature. Her upbringing in a Jain household instilled in her profound principles of sustainability. Dentistry, a passion that ignited within her, was led by her experience at Saint Mary’s Dental Clinic in Central Valley, California. Working with underserved communities, she found a deep connection that fueled her determination to pursue dentistry further. This connection ultimately led her to the University of Southern California, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Awakening: Goodbye to Old Dentistry
Early in her career, Dr. Patel began to question the conventional dental model, which focused solely on symptoms, materials, and procedures, neglecting the human element.
She recalled, “We were treating cavities without delving into the underlying causes or exploring preventive measures. Dentistry had become a mechanical process, devoid of mindfulness.”
This realization sparked a revolutionary movement. In 2005, she founded Green Dentistry in San Francisco—a serene, eco-conscious space that aims to heal both patients and the planet. From digital X-rays and mercury-free fillings to aromatherapy and toxin-free materials, every aspect of the practice reflects her belief that dentistry should nurture the mind, body, and Earth.
At Green Dentistry, patients don’t just receive cleanings; they also learn about the connection between oral bacteria, heart disease, brain health, and longevity. Her approach seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology with mindfulness and compassion. Each appointment is based on precision prevention, addressing the root causes of dental issues. Teeth cleanings become truly healing experiences.
A Turning Point in Personal Tragedy
A personal tragedy deepened Dr. Patel’s mission and propelled her career into its next phase.
“My brother passed away suddenly at the age of 33 due to a heart attack,” she recounts. “It was devastating. Losing him made me realize that I could and must do more. I had to understand why seemingly healthy people suffer preventable events.”
This loss became her turning point—the moment she vowed to uncover the hidden connections between oral health and the rest of the body. She immersed herself in the study of holistic and functional dentistry, exploring how inflammation in the mouth can fuel disease in the heart and brain.
Driven by both grief and purpose, Dr. Patel continued her education through the IAOMT, IABDM, AAOSH, and earned certification from the BaleDoneen Institute, a renowned medical organization dedicated to preventing heart attacks and strokes through personalized, science-based care. This achievement placed her among a select group of dentists globally trained to identify cardiovascular risks through oral-systemic markers.
Now, she seamlessly integrates these methods into her daily practice, helping patients not only save their teeth but also protect their hearts and minds extend their lives.

Healing the Planet, One Smile at a Time
In “Bye Ol’ Dentistry,” Dr. Patel brings her philosophy of “mindful medicine” to the screen, showing how true healing begins with awareness of self, science, and sustainability. Her story traces how she reimagined dental care to protect both patients and the planet, transforming her San Francisco practice into one of the world’s first truly green dental clinics.
The film captures her vision of a future where biological dentistry, preventive health, and ecological responsibility work together to create lasting well-being for all. Her inclusion reinforces the documentary’s mission to redefine dentistry as a force for global regeneration—of body, mind, and environment.
Giving Back: Rooted in Purpose
Dr. Patel, whose practice in California flourishes, has a deep connection to her roots. Through her nonprofit organization in India, she has brought eco-friendly dental care, oral cancer prevention, and hygiene education to thousands of underserved families. Working closely with local health teams, her mission is to impact one million lives across India, one smile and one village at a time.
In rural clinics, Dr. Patel often bends to the level of a child, holding a toothbrush in her hand, and teaches in both Hindi and English. Her presence radiates warmth and hope.
