A Lifetime of Learning and Healing: Dr. Stuart Nunnally’s Biological Dentistry in Bye Ol’ Dentistry

Dr. Stuart Nunnally has spent more than four decades practicing dentistry in his hometown of Marble Falls, Texas, guided by a lifelong commitment to education, service, and whole-body health. His work now aligns closely with the mission of “Bye Ol’ Dentistry,” the Lolli Brands Entertainment documentary that challenges conventional dental models and highlights the profound connection between oral health and systemic wellness.

“Bye Ol’ Dentistry” explores how oral inflammation, toxic exposure, and hidden infections can influence neurological health, immune balance, and chronic disease. Dr. Nunnally’s clinical philosophy reflects this same systems-based perspective, emphasizing biologically informed dentistry that supports the body’s natural healing processes.

A Career Built on Education and Clinical Mastery

Dr. Nunnally graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin and later from the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School at San Antonio. His passion for learning has defined his career. He achieved Emeritus status in the Academy of General Dentistry and earned master’s degrees in both nutrition and the specialty of Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine.

At age 69, he became one of the oldest recipients of a master’s degree from the University of Southern California Ostrow School of Dentistry. He also holds fellowships from the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, and the American Academy of Ozonotherapy, and he is board certified as a naturopathic medical doctor.

Dr. Nunnally has served as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio and as an adjunct professor at the Baylor School of Dentistry, sharing his expertise in holistic dentistry, pain management, and healing-centered care.

A Personal Journey Into Biological Dentistry

Dr. Nunnally’s path into biological dentistry became deeply personal. Despite being a competitive triathlete, he began experiencing severe neuromuscular symptoms that led his neurologist to refer him to an ALS center in Houston for evaluation.

Before attending that appointment, he consulted with Dr. Hal Huggins, a pioneer in holistic dentistry. Under Huggins’ guidance, Dr. Nunnally addressed hidden jawbone cavitations related to wisdom tooth extractions decades earlier, adopted a high-protein, high-fat diet, and began detoxification protocols including intravenous vitamin C and sauna therapy while avoiding mercury exposure.

Although he never received an ALS diagnosis, his symptoms improved significantly as his mercury levels declined. This experience reshaped his clinical outlook and strengthened his belief that oral health can profoundly influence neurological and systemic well-being.

A Center for Biological and Compassionate Care

Following his own health transformation, Dr. Nunnally and his partners built a globally recognized dental practice focused on biological and holistic care. Their team has treated patients from all 50 U.S. states and more than 65 countries, offering comprehensive dental treatment in a nurturing environment designed to support healing.

Dr. Nunnally has lectured across the United States and internationally on holistic dentistry, optimizing the healing response, and leadership in healthcare. His research at USC explored non-pharmaceutical approaches to neuropathic pain, reflecting his ongoing interest in integrative treatment strategies.

Leadership, Service, and Lifelong Impact

Beyond dentistry, Dr. Nunnally has been deeply involved in community leadership. Alongside his wife Rebecca, he co-founded Faith Academy of Marble Falls, a K–12 school established in 1999 that now serves hundreds of students.

The couple has been honored as Citizens of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Recipients by the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Nunnally has also received the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award for his service to underserved communities locally and internationally, including Central America and Haiti.

He has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career, including president of the Heart of Texas Dental Society, chairman of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, and president of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce.

Continuing the Mission

Today, Dr. Nunnally continues to practice, teach, and inspire. Even in his seventies, he remains active as a triathlete and committed to lifelong learning, patient care, and mentorship.

His participation in “Bye Ol’ Dentistry” reflects a philosophy shaped by decades of experience and personal transformation: that dentistry must move beyond mechanical treatment toward biologically informed care that honors the body’s capacity to heal.

For Dr. Stuart Nunnally, the ultimate reward is simple: serving patients with compassion, advancing knowledge, and sharing life with his wife Rebecca, their children, and grandchildren.
