In a healthcare world dominated by prescriptions and symptom management, pharmacist Nayan Patel is leading a quiet revolution. But his weapon of choice isn’t a new pharmaceutical—it’s a naturally occurring antioxidant that’s been in our bodies all along: glutathione.

Founder of Auro Wellness and author of The Glutathione Revolution, Patel is on a mission to shift medicine from managing disease to empowering the body to heal itself. Drawing on over 25 years of compounding pharmacy experience, Patel’s groundbreaking work has made him a sought-after voice in both clinical and biohacking communities, redefining how we understand longevity and cellular health.

“The true medicine is not medicine,” Patel said in an interview with TereZa Hakobyan-Lolli and Anthony Lolli, Editors-in-Chief of longevity and wellness platform Biohack Yourself, for the influential upcoming women’s health documentary, “sHEALed.” “It’s food—and how we support our bodies to do what they’re designed to do.”

The sHEALed Documentary is the sister documentary to Biohack Yourself, which became a massive success after exploding on the scene in December 2024 and ignited a firestorm of interest in information focused on health and longevity. Biohack Yourself features 114 prominent and respected high-profile politicians, doctors, bestselling authors, Ph.D.s, M.D.s, scientists, chemists, inventors, biotech investors, and world-renowned academics. Stemming from the success of Biohack Yourself, TereZa Hakobyan-Lolli and Anthony Lolli have grown Biohack Yourself Media to become the number one resource for health news, publishing over 500 articles ranging from breaking news to peer reviewed content.

A Pharmacist’s Awakening

Patel’s journey began with disillusionment. After graduating from one of the top pharmacy schools in the U.S., he entered the field optimistic about helping people heal. What he found instead was a system designed to manage—not resolve—illness.

“I realized early on that medications are about controlling symptoms,” he said. “But I wanted to help people actually get better.”

So, in 1999, Patel began researching glutathione, the body’s most abundant antioxidant and a critical player in detoxification, immune defense, and cellular repair. His goal? Find a way to effectively deliver glutathione into the body without injections or ineffective oral supplements.

Glutathione: The Body’s Master Antioxidant

Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide composed of three amino acids—glutamine, glycine, and cysteine—and plays a central role in reducing oxidative stress, detoxifying harmful substances, and regulating immune response.

Although the body can produce glutathione naturally, Patel emphasizes that modern lifestyles often outpace that production.

“Our glutathione needs increase as we age,” he explained. “Alcohol, stress, environmental toxins, hormonal cycles—even menstruation—deplete glutathione. And our bodies can’t always keep up.”

For women in particular, Patel warns that fluctuating hormones, pregnancy, and menstrual cycles place a higher demand on the antioxidant system. “Each month, a woman’s oxidative stress rises with her cycle,” he said. “And after pregnancy, all the glutathione goes to the baby. The mother is left depleted.”

Cracking the Code: A Breakthrough in Delivery

Patel spent over a decade trying to solve a puzzle that had eluded scientists for more than a century: how to deliver glutathione directly into the cells in a stable, usable form.

“Glutathione is fragile,” he explained. “It breaks down easily in heat, light, and even stomach acid. Pills don’t work. IVs are effective, but inconvenient and expensive.”

His breakthrough came when he developed a topical transdermal formulation, stabilized with a molecular cap and carried into cells via sugar-based transport. This technology, now sold under his brand Auro Wellness, is designed to deliver 100–150 mg twice daily, mimicking the body’s natural levels. “It’s like giving your cells a fully loaded wallet,” Patel said. “The glutathione is instantly usable, no breakdown required.”

Why It Matters: Symptoms and Subtle Signs

Low glutathione doesn’t present like a cold or flu. Instead, its deficiency reveals itself in slow, silent ways: fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalances, sluggish recovery, and premature aging.

“Oxidative stress is happening every time you breathe,” said Patel. “Without enough glutathione, you’re aging faster, getting sicker, and setting the stage for chronic disease.”

In women, low levels can manifest as:

  • Irregular or painful menstrual cycles

  • Hormonal acne

  • Cramping and PMS

  • Fatigue and brain fog

  • Slower postpartum recovery

“It’s not just about detoxing your liver,” he added. “It’s about cellular resilience—how well your body performs under pressure.”

Glutathione and Women’s Health: A Game-Changer

Throughout his career, Patel has worked with over a million women on hormone optimization. He’s adamant that supporting the endocrine system begins with improving glutathione levels. “Hormone therapy is a Band-Aid,” he said. “If you don’t fix oxidative stress and nutritional deficiencies, the root problem remains.”

He explained how glutathione can help regulate estrogen metabolism, protect against hormone-related cancers, and even support fertility. “During pregnancy, the fetus gets all the antioxidant protection. Moms are left drained. That’s when symptoms start—depression, low energy, immune issues. Replenishing glutathione can be life-changing.”

Busting Myths and Cutting Through the Noise

Patel is aware of the glutathione hype—and the confusion that comes with it.

“There’s way too much noise in the marketplace,” he said. “Most products don’t get absorbed. People try a cheap supplement and say, ‘Glutathione doesn’t work for me.’ But the problem isn’t the molecule—it’s the delivery.”

He warns that ineffective supplements do a disservice by discouraging people from pursuing real solutions. “Glutathione works. But only if it reaches your cells.”

Dosage and Protocol: How to Use Glutathione Effectively

Patel recommends a topical dose of 100–150 mg, applied twice daily, ideally in the morning and evening. The effect lasts for 8–16 hours, providing sufficient coverage for most people.

“Under age 30, you might get by with a good diet. But by 40, no matter how healthy you are, your levels can’t keep up,” he said. “Start supplementing by 30 if you want to stay ahead.”

He emphasizes that diet still matters. Foods rich in amino acids—like leafy greens, eggs, and lean proteins—support the body’s own glutathione production. But supplementation ensures you meet increasing demands as you age.

Patel’s practical tips for optimizing glutathione and boosting long-term health:

1. Eat for Glutathione: Incorporate foods rich in cysteine, glycine, and glutamine—such as spinach, broccoli, garlic, eggs, and poultry.

2. Limit Toxins: Reduce exposure to alcohol, processed foods, and environmental toxins. Choose clean beauty and household products.

3. Manage Stress: Mental stress may not deplete glutathione directly, but chronic stress increases inflammation and oxidative stress.

4. Start Early: Women in their teens and 20s should be mindful of menstrual-related oxidative stress. Postpartum women especially benefit from support.

5. Use Transdermal Glutathione: Apply a clinically formulated topical glutathione twice daily for best absorption and sustained effect.

6. Listen to Your Body: Track symptoms—fatigue, headaches, hormonal imbalances—and correlate them with cycles and stressors.

“Listen to Your Body”

Despite his deep scientific knowledge, Patel’s core message is simple—and human.

“Women know their bodies,” he said. “If something feels off, it probably is. Don’t ignore those signs. Don’t settle for band-aids. Support your body, and it will support you.”

In a healthcare landscape still learning how to honor women’s biology, Nayan Patel offers something rare: a blend of compassion, credibility, and commitment to root-cause healing. As more people seek alternatives to conventional medicine, the glutathione revolution is just getting started.
