DR. GEORGE SHAPIRO
Revolutionizing Cardiovascular and Age Management Medicine
COURTNEY MCGEE
2025

Dr. George Shapiro has spent over 35 years at the cutting edge of internal medicine, cardiology, and age management. His expertise spans from heart transplant teams to concierge medicine, and his focus has evolved from treating disease to preventing it. Dr. Shapiro sat down with TereZa Hakobyan-Lolli and Anthony Lolli, Editors-in-Chief of longevity and wellness platform Biohack Yourself, for an interview for the influential upcoming women’s health documentary, “sHEALed,” to share his insights into the future of medicine, the importance of early detection, and how technology and innovation are reshaping healthcare.
The sHEALed Documentary is the sister documentary to Biohack Yourself, which became a massive success after exploding on the scene in December 2024 and ignited a firestorm of interest in information focused on health and longevity. Biohack Yourself features 114 prominent and respected high-profile politicians, doctors, bestselling authors, Ph.D.s, M.D.s, scientists, chemists, inventors, biotech investors, and world-renowned academics. Stemming from the success of Biohack Yourself, TereZa Hakobyan-Lolli and Anthony Lolli have grown Biohack Yourself Media to become the number one resource for health news, publishing over 500 articles ranging from breaking news to peer reviewed content.
From Sick Care to Well Care
Dr. Shapiro's career began in traditional cardiology, where he treated patients suffering from severe heart disease. However, in his 40s, he found himself experiencing fatigue, weight gain, and joint pain—issues he had not faced before. "I was always fit. I competed in the Junior Olympics for Judo, played racquetball, and was active my whole life. But suddenly, my body changed," he recalled.
In search of answers, he explored several age management programs and eventually became a patient at Cenegenics, a leader in metabolic health. The transformation was profound. "Within six months, my body fat dropped from 44% to 14%, and I felt like myself again." This experience led him to transition his practice from traditional cardiology to concierge medicine, allowing him to focus on optimizing health rather than just treating disease.
The Power of Concierge Medicine
Concierge medicine differs from traditional healthcare by offering personalized, proactive care that is often inaccessible in an insurance-based system. "In typical medicine, doctors are overworked, and insurance companies limit what we can do. But with concierge medicine, I can spend time with my patients, look them in the eye, and truly understand their needs," he explained.
Through this model, Dr. Shapiro has worked with top executives, athletes, and even world leaders. "They have access to the best healthcare in the world, but what really matters is education and awareness. The goal is to make these advanced therapies available to everyone, not just the wealthy."

Heart Disease: The Silent Killer of Women
One of Dr. Shapiro’s biggest missions is raising awareness about cardiovascular disease in women. "Many people think of heart disease as a man’s issue, but it’s the number one killer of women," he emphasized. "One in three women die from heart disease, compared to one in 33 from breast cancer."
A major factor in women’s heart health is estrogen. "Estrogen protects blood vessels, but as women enter perimenopause and menopause, estrogen levels decline, making them more vulnerable to plaque buildup and cardiovascular issues," Dr. Shapiro explained.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) has been controversial, but Dr. Shapiro is a strong advocate. "A study followed women who started HRT at age 50 and tracked their coronary calcium scores. These women lived into their 90s and beyond with no heart disease. HRT, when used correctly, is a game-changer."
Cutting-Edge Technology in Medicine
Dr. Shapiro’s work with Fountain Life, a health optimization company he co-founded with Tony Robbins, Peter Diamandis, and Dr. Bob Harari, is focused on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced diagnostics to detect diseases early. "We now have the ability to visualize plaque inside arteries, something we couldn’t do 50 years ago. It allows us to predict and prevent heart attacks before they happen."
Whole-body imaging is another revolutionary tool. "People fear finding something wrong, but that’s exactly why you want to get scanned. If we catch disease early, we have a 95% chance of survival."
The Role of AI in Diagnostics
Dr. Shapiro believes AI will transform medicine by improving accuracy and efficiency. "AI can read imaging scans far more accurately than the human eye. In one study, radiologists missed several wrist fractures, but AI missed only one. That’s the power of technology."
By integrating AI with traditional diagnostics, Fountain Life is pioneering new ways to detect cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative conditions long before symptoms appear.
The Future of Disease Prevention
Beyond diagnostics, Dr. Shapiro is excited about innovations in regenerative medicine. "We’re seeing breakthroughs in exosome therapy, stem cells, and even blood filtration technology that can remove viruses, bacteria, and even cancer cells from the bloodstream."
One of the most promising advancements is the Seraph 100 filter. "This filter mimics the inner lining of blood vessels, tricking pathogens into binding to it. In four hours, it can remove over 99% of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 and Epstein-Barr, which are linked to chronic fatigue and even dementia."

Actionable Steps for a Healthier Life
Dr. Shapiro offers practical advice for individuals looking to optimize their health:
Prioritize Early Detection: "Get regular screenings, including whole-body imaging and AI-driven heart scans."
Monitor Key Biomarkers: "Instead of focusing solely on cholesterol, track inflammation markers like CRP and insulin resistance."
Embrace Personalized Medicine: "Genetic and biomarker testing can help tailor your diet, supplements, and exercise for maximum benefit."
Strength Train Regularly: "Muscle mass is critical for longevity, especially for women at risk for osteoporosis."
Consider Hormone Therapy: "HRT, when used correctly, can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and improve quality of life."
Be Proactive, Not Reactive: "Don’t wait until you have symptoms. Health optimization should start before problems arise."

A Message of Hope for Women
Dr. Shapiro’s ultimate message is one of empowerment. "Women need to take control of their health. Too often, they put themselves last, prioritizing family and career over self-care. But by being proactive, they can lead longer, healthier lives."
He urges women to advocate for themselves in medical settings. "Doctors often dismiss women’s symptoms or attribute them to stress. If something feels off, push for further testing. Your health is worth it."
Looking Ahead: Longevity and Beyond
Dr. Shapiro is optimistic about the future. "We’re moving toward an era where turning 100 won’t mean being frail. With the right interventions, we can maintain youthfulness well into old age. The goal isn’t just to live longer, but to live better."
Through his work with Fountain Life and other innovative medical initiatives, Dr. Shapiro is leading the charge in transforming healthcare from a reactive model to a proactive one. "We no longer have to accept disease as an inevitability. With the right tools, we can rewrite the future of medicine."
