Former Olympic gymnast Stephen McCain hung up his cape in the arena years ago but continues to wield his powers in the realm of health and wellness. In an interview with Anthony and TereZa Lolli for the “Biohack Yourself” documentary, McCain discussed his advocacy for wellness, emphasizing that it’s not just lifespan that is important, but healthspan.
McCain’s journey into health began during his athletic career, where he competed at a world-class level for 12 years. After retiring from his professional gymnast career, he faced his own kryptonite—poor lifestyle choices that threatened his health and longevity. "I lost all my discipline... I was waking up with a hangover almost every day after five years, I just felt terrible," McCain admitted.
Realizing the need for change, he aspired to regain the superhero vitality he experienced as an athlete. By quitting alcohol and embracing the principles that fueled his Olympic success, McCain transformed his life. "I wanted to feel like a superhero... and I wanted to feel like that every single day," he said.
Now, nearly 15 years later, he uses the secrets he learned as an Olympian to maintain peak condition. As a full-time health advocate, content creator, and speaker, McCain inspires others to become their own heroes in the quest for a disease-free, high-performance life.

"You start getting into advanced modalities, peptides, exosomes, stem cells... and then you develop this system that works for you over years," McCain explained. "I always tell people, look, if you optimize for fitness, you will automatically optimize for sleep, your diet and your stress," he emphasized.
In his advocacy, McCain also focuses on practical and accessible methods for those beginning their health journey. "Exercise is free for the most part, right? We can all afford that," he emphasized. McCain advocates for starting with basic health pillars like nutrition, sleep, exercise, and stress management, and then gradually incorporating advanced biohacking techniques.
