In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Barry Warrington, CEO of Energy Lounge, pioneered the Energy Lounger, a cutting-edge device utilizing red light therapy and near-infrared technology for non-contact therapeutic solutions. Leveraging his background in exercise physiology and sports massage, Warrington developed the Energy Lounger to alleviate various forms of pain, particularly in the back and neck. “We focused on ergonomics to ensure natural venous return and provide therapeutic comfort,” he explains.

The Energy Lounger offers modes for red light therapy, which aids in skin rejuvenation and wound healing, and near-infrared therapy, targeting deeper musculoskeletal issues. “It’s like having a personal therapist without needing one,” Warrington said in the Biohack Yourself Documentary.

The device is utilized in wellness bars, chiropractic offices, plastic surgery clinics, wellness resorts, and private homes. Plastic surgeons have used it post-surgery to enhance wound healing. One key position involves having the knees above the waist, aiding in spinal relief. “But from a delivery device, near-infrared penetrates about three to five centimeters into the body,” Warrington explained in the Biohack Yourself Documentary. “So although the body is laying face up, they're actually getting treated right through their whole musculoskeletal system.”
