In today's hyper-connected world, where urban living and social media networks are the norm, many still find themselves grappling with deep feelings of isolation. Ben Greenfield highlights that these feelings can trigger ancient stress responses, pointing to the crucial need for real, face-to-face connections. Greenfield's wellness philosophy bridges the gap between modern biohacking techniques and the timeless value of human relationships, advocating for a holistic approach that nurtures both body and mind.
With over 20 years of experience as a prominent and influential figure, Ben Greenfield’s impact spans far and wide across multiple domains. Through all of his experience, teachings, and lessons as a New York Times bestselling author, speaker, podcaster, fitness coach, athlete, and devoted family man, he educates and inspires a global audience on optimizing health and performance through his comprehensive biohacking philosophy, which integrates scientific advancements with holistic wellness practices.
Greenfield teamed up with the cast of Biohack Yourself, a documentary series following the Lolli family as they speak with leading industry experts to uncover secrets to longevity and vitality to share the numerous benefits of biohacking accessible to everyone. Featuring in-depth interviews with global leaders in biohacking and testing the best products and modalities available, the aim is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to optimize their health, performance, and well-being.

In an interview with Anthony and TereZa Lolli, Greenfield shares a clear message: true wellness goes beyond just physical health. It encompasses emotional and social well-being as well. Greenfield passionately advocates for a holistic approach to life, one that balances advanced health techniques with meaningful personal connections. This approach, he believes, is the key to a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.
“I think the biggest variable is relationships, community, love, and connection. As a matter of fact, one of the best ways to fight cancer is to have the presence of connectivity and absence of loneliness in your life," Greenfield said in the Biohack Yourself Documentary.
Today, despite living in connected urban environments and having thousands of social media friends, people can still experience profound loneliness.

In a 71-page advisory released in 2023, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy highlighted a growing “epidemic of loneliness and isolation” in America, noting that about 50% of adults in the country experience loneliness, with young adults being among the most affected.
Ben Greenfield warns that the same ancestral stress mechanisms can activate in these scenarios, highlighting the importance of genuine human connections.
“We're constantly connected and we're living in big cities surrounded by a lot of people,” Greenfield said. “But we can still be lonely. And those same ancestral stress mechanisms can kick in at that point... if you didn't have your tribe, your blood pressure would have gone up, and your body would have kicked into a sympathetic fight or flight syndrome.”
