Greetings! Probably the simplest and most important biohack for health and longevity is to assist in the detoxification of your body.

The way I approach the subject is ancient, old, and Biblical — it is based on fasting. And fasting, in its most basic concept, is something that you remove from your day, rather than add. Some will fast from electronics, some from sugar, and some from food. It depends on your level of health and your goals.

It’s possible for you, no matter how challenging you think it will be. You are endowed with the capability to fast. Remember: you fast every night when you are sleeping.

So Why Detox?

In today’s world of environmental toxins, ultra-processed food, and EMF overload, detoxification and fasting are necessities. We all need to clear the sludge of modern life: the heavy metals, the chemical additives, the energetic residue. Even the daily act of living creates metabolic waste.

The key idea here is: Your body already knows what to do as long as you allow it. If our detox pathways are congested and overwhelmed, our bodies struggle to keep up, and we feel unwell.

Instead of giving our bodies a chance to catch up, people are often pushing dinner into lunch into breakfast every day without a break — all while on their phones 24/7.

Yet detoxification isn’t about deprivation. It’s about going back to the natural rhythms of feeding and fasting and allowing space...the way humans have done for millennia.

Here’s how we do it.

The David ‘Avocado’ Wolfe Detox: The Right Protocol

Every quarter — around the change of the seasons — dedicate two weeks to plant-based simplicity, adding in self-care, time unplugged, and journaling.

Food As Foundation

What you’re putting in affects everything else downstream. For a full two weeks, eliminate all meat and dairy. You will survive — trust me on this! You can take those extra dollars you save to invest in the best organic seasonal foods you can find.

Do the best you can. Eat local. Eat clean.

Food Ratios

In order to thin down calories, cleanse, and fast, it is critically important to discover your ideal ratio of macronutrients — protein, fat, and carbohydrate.

Everybody is different and handles fat, protein, and carbs differently. Most people feel best on a high-protein, moderate-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. However, I do best with a high-fat, moderate-carb, low-protein ratio of foods.

The goal is to find what works best for your digestion and energy needs. Then over the course of two weeks, you bring the calories down slowly while keeping the ratio of fat/protein/carbohydrate that works for you.

You may need to experiment with the many facets of cleansing. This is why you detox every quarter. Let your body get back to homeostasis, meditate on what worked and what didn’t, then try again next time.

Reconnect With Nature

As part of our two-week detox, I want you to get out into Nature for at least an hour in Week 1 and two hours in Week 2. That means: No phone use.

Leave your phone at home (or in the car or simply off), and find a park or a trail. Walk.

Breathe. Explore the environment around you. If you can, go barefoot and let yourself connect physically with the Earth. Better yet, swim in a river, lake, or the ocean. The negative currents from the Earth relieve oxidative stress, especially that caused by EMFs.

Eliminate The Competition

A good detox is like a good Spring cleaning. You want to flush out the built-up toxins. As you

take in less food, your body will naturally shrink fat cells. What’s in those cells? Toxins. This is why some people don’t feel well on a detox.

And this is exactly why I recommend enemas, colonics, or laxatives. You’ve got to get it all out! Just make sure you’re bringing in a binding agent, like activated charcoal, to help eliminate heavy metals, parasites, and toxins.

Record Your Progress

Use both a Detox Journal and a Food Diary to help track your progress. Journaling lets you examine your emotional journey, embracing challenges as well as gratitude. The Food Diary records how you feel as you go through the process of detoxification. Reflection is part of the healing process.

Putting It All Together

Use your personal ratio of fat, protein, and carbs, then reduce the amount you eat over the next two weeks.

Week 1: Liquid Light Plus One Solid Plant-Based Meal

Eat one solid meal each day, ideally during daylight hours. The rest of your calories will come from smoothies, juices, herbal teas, and plenty of sea-salt water. Over the course of the first week, reduce the amount you eat a little each day. This gently reduces caloric load without altering your macronutrient balance. Keep your personal fat/protein/carb ratio intact — just eat less.

And remember: one measured hour in Nature.

Week 2: Deepening the Cleanse

In the second week, shift to lighter smoothies and juices, ending the week with sea-salt lemon water, low-sugar vegetable juices, and herbal teas. This phase activates deeper cellular cleansing.

When you reduce what you take in, your body can use its energy to clear out metabolic waste, toxins, and even parasites.

By the end of this second week, your metabolism will be getting a reboot. Enemas, colonics, and laxatives further remove the waste dragging you down.

Week 3: Surprise! Optional Water Fast

The goal is to allow your blood sugar to bottom out, so your body can focus attention away from digestion and toward healing. Even one day on water only reaps incredible benefits!*

Water Fast Q&A: What can I have on a water fast? Water – Sea Salt – Lemon – Charcoal.

That’s it! Keep it simple: Water – Sea Salt – Lemon – Charcoal.

If you go into a third week, then stretch your time in Nature, too. Enjoy three full, measured hours. No devices!

Final Thought

Detoxification isn’t about depriving yourself but about realigning with your truest, most radiant self. Follow this simple protocol, and Have The Best Detox Ever!

*If you are under the care of a health professional, be sure to include him or her in this process, especially if you are on medications and considering a water fast.
