In a society where burnout is normalized, antidepressants are handed out like candy, and women are expected to “do it all” while smiling, Dr. Amanda Hanson is offering a radical alternative: healing from within.

A clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Hanson has built a thriving career not by treating symptoms but by leading women back to themselves. Through her signature six-month masterminds and intimate retreats, she helps women untangle the roots of emotional distress, release generational and societal conditioning, and rewire their inner blueprint—not with medication, but with movement, self-trust, and emotional liberation.

“My work is medicine,” Hanson said in an interview with TereZa Hakobyan-Lolli and Anthony Lolli, Editors-in-Chief of longevity and wellness platform Biohack Yourself, for the influential upcoming women’s health documentary, “sHEALed.” “Not because I prescribe anything, but because I teach women how to unlock what’s already inside them.”

The sHEALed Documentary is the sister documentary to Biohack Yourself, which became a massive success after exploding on the scene in December 2024 and ignited a firestorm of interest in information focused on health and longevity. Biohack Yourself features 114 prominent and respected high-profile politicians, doctors, bestselling authors, Ph.D.s, M.D.s, scientists, chemists, inventors, biotech investors, and world-renowned academics. Stemming from the success of Biohack Yourself, TereZa Hakobyan-Lolli and Anthony Lolli have grown Biohack Yourself Media to become the number one resource for health news, publishing over 500 articles ranging from breaking news to peer reviewed content.

The Limitations of Traditional Therapy—and the Birth of a New Approach

Dr. Hanson’s early years in clinical psychology followed the conventional model—talk therapy, cognitive reframing, and the slow unraveling of pain through weekly conversations. But eventually, even she began to feel that something was missing.

“I realized armchair therapy was only taking us so far,” she explains. “It’s so cerebral. But we’re emotional beings. Pain doesn’t live in the mind—it lives in the body.”

This realization sparked a shift in her work. Hanson began integrating somatic practices, movement, and ancient energetic modalities to help women process trauma and grief not just intellectually, but physically.

“Emotions are meant to move,” she says. “When we don’t let them, they become fossil fuel, corroding us from within. But when properly alchemized, that pain becomes renewable energy.”

Breaking the Cycle: Why Talk Therapy Alone Isn’t Enough

Many of the women who find Dr. Hanson have been in therapy for years—sometimes decades—and are still stuck. Some are on long-term medication. Many have lost their sense of self, their spark, and their voice.

“I work with artists, mothers, professionals—women who have been silenced by pain, prescribed into numbness, and told to ignore their bodies’ signals,” Hanson shares. “They’re not broken. They’ve just never been taught how to feel, how to listen, and how to heal.”

Through her mastermind cohorts and transformational retreats, Hanson helps women rapidly deconstruct internalized patriarchy, reconnect with their bodies, and resurrect their vitality.

“In just one week, women tell me they’ve experienced more transformation than in 20 years of therapy,” she says. “The difference is that I ask the questions no one else asks.”

Emotional Repression and Autoimmunity: The Hidden Connection

According to Hanson, 80% of physical disease has emotional roots. Repressed feelings, unspoken truths, and self-abandonment don’t just hurt emotionally—they manifest in the body.

Autoimmune conditions are skyrocketing among women because we’re living lives that aren’t aligned with who we really are,” she explains. “We’ve been conditioned to suppress, to serve, to smile—until the body can’t take it anymore.”

She teaches women that healing isn’t about eliminating emotions—it’s about feeling them fully and using them as fuel.

“You were never meant to not feel this,” she tells her clients. “You were never meant to abandon that little girl inside you.”

Deconstructing Patriarchy From the Inside Out

One of the most powerful aspects of Hanson’s work is helping women recognize how deeply they’ve internalized patriarchal conditioning—from their relationships to their language.

“We say ‘you guys’ to a room full of women. We take medicines tested only on men. We exercise and eat based on data that was never designed for female biology,” Hanson points out. “No wonder we feel so wrong in our own bodies.”

For Hanson, true healing begins when a woman stops outsourcing her worth, approval, or identity—and starts architecting her life from the inside.

“When you erase the goddess from the story, when you erase women from leadership, from medicine, from the narrative itself—you create a world that’s not made for us. And then we wonder why we’re sick and exhausted.”

The Feminine as Power, Not Weakness

In a culture that equates femininity with fragility, Hanson is reclaiming soft power. She believes vulnerability, intuition, and surrender are not weaknesses—but superpowers.

“When I am most in my feminine, I am most powerful,” she says. “It’s a wisdom that’s not of this three-dimensional world. It’s where the magic lives.”

In her personal life, Hanson models this balance. As a mother of four and a business owner, she doesn’t just preach self-love—she lives it. She starts each day with a three-minute mirror practice, affirming her worth before the world can touch her.

“I don’t absorb my clients’ pain, my children’s stress, or my husband’s work anxiety. I am energetically squeaky clean,” she laughs. “And because of that, at 52 years old, I feel more vibrant than ever—no hormone therapy, no burnout, just aligned living.”

Role Modeling Over Words: Raising the Next Generation

Hanson emphasizes that the key to raising confident daughters (and sons) isn’t in what you say—but in how you live.

“My daughter doesn’t need to hear ‘love yourself,’” she says. “She needs to see me loving myself. That’s what sticks.”

She encourages parents to help children build internal reference points for validation. Instead of asking, “Do you like my drawing?” Hanson suggests flipping the question: “Do you like it?”

“That simple shift teaches girls to trust their own opinions. It’s foundational,” she explains.

Key Takeaways from Dr. Hanson’s Wisdom

  • Repressed emotions manifest physically: 80% of illness may be tied to emotional trauma.

  • Talk therapy is limited: Somatic work and emotional processing are often missing pieces.

  • Healing comes from within: Women must stop seeking external validation and start connecting with their inner child and truth.

  • Patriarchy is in our language, medicine, and mindset: Unlearning it requires conscious effort.

  • Femininity is not weakness: Vulnerability, softness, and flow are powerful forces for leadership and creativity.

  • Mothers must model, not preach: Embodying self-love and authenticity teaches children more than words ever could.

“My message to women is this,” Dr. Hanson says. “Everything you need to live an incredible, powerful life is already inside of you. You just have to stop looking outside for permission—and start listening within.”

Through her programs, teachings, and unapologetic authenticity, Dr. Amanda Hanson is doing more than treating emotional wounds—she’s starting a revolution of remembrance, helping women reclaim their sovereignty and rewrite the script of what it means to be whole.

What You Can Do Today

  1. Start a Mirror Practice: Spend 3 minutes each morning looking into your own eyes and affirming your worth before engaging with the world.

  2. Reconnect with Your Inner Child: Journal from the perspective of your 8-year-old self. What did she love? What did she fear? Begin nurturing her again.

  3. Deconstruct Limiting Language: Notice how often you default to masculine-centric language or thought patterns. Begin to reframe.

  4. Feel to Heal: Let yourself cry, scream, dance, or move to process emotions. Don’t intellectualize—embody.

  5. Question the Rules: Who taught you what success looks like? Who benefits from you playing small? Rewrite the narrative.
