Erika is a multimedia journalist, fitness instructor, and your health and wellness-obsessed bestie.
Growing up in a family of doctors, it wasn’t uncommon to toss science into the conversation or chat medical jargon as her father surgically sutured up the Thanksgiving turkey. From a young age, Erika was captivated by the human body and had an inkling she would pursue a career in health. However, she had no idea what direction she would take.
As her health story unfolded, it became clearer how she intended to share wellness knowledge and inspire others to boost their longevity through biohacking. She would combine her experiences with her passion for health, storytelling, and performing.
Erika holds a degree in human biology, with an emphasis in sports medicine, and a master's in broadcast journalism, both from the University of Southern California. While at USC, she hosted her own television segment, “Wellness Wednesday” with Annenberg Television News. It featured breaking news stories within the booming wellness industry, plugged into fitness, diet, and mindset. She holds the skills to tell stories across various platforms, from print, web, video, audio to social media.
The moment she could twirl and sway to the beat, she fell in love with the power of movement. Erika has an extensive professional dance career performing as a World Famous USC Song Girl, training with elite professional ballet companies across the U.S., dancing with San Diego Ballet’s company and smaller companies in NYC, and acting in media appearances. Her interest in biohacking stems largely from this art form’s physical and mental demands.
Erika was an active and ambitious athlete in her early 20s with a “go-go” mentality. She always had a fast metabolism but was struggling more than ever to maintain a healthy weight and menstrual cycle. Concerned, she turned to medical advice. Like a broken record, countless doctors said to increase her caloric intake and use birth control to regulate her menstrual cycle. Erika didn’t want a Band-Aid. She wanted to investigate and solve any underlying metabolic issues.

Science, Storytelling, Wellness
Erika blends her passion for science, storytelling, and movement to inspire wellness and longevity.
During COVID, she worked with a naturopathic doctor who specializes in healing through diet, exercise, and relaxation before turning to medication. He was genuinely stumped.
Extensive tests revealed there was a lot more going on internally than anyone imagined. She had two serious gut bacteria, tested above the scale for gluten intolerance, was consuming a generous amount of arsenic in her plant protein powder, and her pancreas was not absorbing nutrients.
In response, she adopted a gluten-free diet, nixed the protein powder, added pancreas enzyme pills for a short period, swapped cardio to strength training, and fed her body like a baby elephant. After three months, her hormones skyrocketed to normal levels, and she gained muscle mass like never before.

In September 2020, her phase angle was the 39th percentile, and in April 2023, she placed in the 95th percentile for being fit for her age. The phase angle is a bioelectrical impedance measurement. A high angle is a sign that your cell membranes are functioning and your body is in a healthy state. Erika’s feelings aligned with stable energy levels, restful sleep, clear skin, no more tummy aches, a boosted mood, and elevated motivation.
Through trial and error, Erika discovered how her body uniquely operates in contrast to popularized trends and messages circulating on social media. She began to understand the equal importance of nutrition, strength training, and rest to reach peak performance as an athlete.
When Erika is not reporting, she designs her own fitness program that focuses on resistance training, hot girl walks, and fueling the body intuitively with all the yummies. Erika has over 10 years of experience working in the fitness industry. She is certified in and teaches 600-hour pilates, [solidcore], power yoga, sculpt, barre, and NASM PT all over New York City and virtually. Her workouts are quick, effective, and most importantly, fun! She hopes to encourage others to tune into their body’s needs and become the strongest version of themselves, no matter their age.
She is eager to tell more athletes’ stories and report on the science behind athletic performance and sports psychology.

From Dancer to Journalist
Erika champions biohacking and women’s health with heart and hustle.
Erika’s draw to biohacking and disease prevention heightened after she unexpectedly lost her mother to a berry brain aneurysm in 2022 and her father to Parkinson's disease in 2025. She is devoted to sharing research to prevent such causes of death and advocating for these medical foundations.
Losing both parents before 30 years old exposed her to a whole other side of mental health - grief, stress, loneliness, and confusion. Life and workouts can be incredibly challenging. But Erika firmly believes that when you can muster just a smidgen of strength to push through, you will glow from the inside out.
Life has proven how short it is and reminds Erika every day to show gratitude for her health. She hopes to encourage others to prioritize their health and well-being. Yes, find time for your sweat sesh, but also luxuriate in self-care, change your routine, do something a little cuckoo-bannanas, take time for prayer, and embrace all the sparkles in life.
Erika is excited to report with Biohack Yourself to turn complex science and biology into understandable, educational, and entertaining storytelling. She strives to be a credible spokesperson for women’s health, inspire an active lifestyle, and illuminate mental health.
