Mia Hernandez is a dedicated advocate for self-directed health and wellness, with a focus on biohacking and holistic practices that empower individuals to take control of their health. With a background in English Literature and Film and Media Arts, Mia has developed a unique perspective that combines academic research, media literacy, and content creation to educate and inspire communities on accessible wellness practices. Her journey into biohacking was sparked by years of personal health challenges and complex diagnoses, which left her feeling disempowered in her healthcare journey. Determined to find a path that could support her long-term health, she began exploring mindfulness, movement, and dietary modifications that helped her manage symptoms, build resilience, and ultimately achieve a more balanced lifestyle.

Mia’s experiences have instilled in her a strong belief that everyone deserves access to wellness resources and education, especially communities that may be underserved or under-resourced. She is committed to bringing awareness to biohacking as a way to demystify health and promote agency over one’s own well-being. Through her work, Mia highlights the power of natural remedies, preventative health strategies, and lifestyle modifications that are both accessible and effective. She believes that with the right tools and knowledge, individuals can make informed choices that transform their health from the inside out.

Her advocacy extends into her community work, where Mia actively volunteers with organizations like The Painted Turtle Camp, a summer camp that provides transformative experiences for children with serious health conditions. As an Activity Counselor, Mia supports an environment rooted in diversity, inclusion, and holistic health practices, contributing to a welcoming space where children feel empowered and valued. She plays an integral role in developing wellness programming tailored to each camper’s unique needs, ensuring they experience the healing benefits of nature, play, and supportive relationships. Mia also provides mentorship to the camp’s older leadership campers, educating them on lifestyle practices that support long-term health and helping them build confidence in managing their own wellness journeys.

Academically, Mia’s work has focused on the history of women’s health, the impact of media on health perceptions, and the role of education in promoting health equity. Her research emphasizes how health narratives have been shaped over time and the ways in which modern media can influence public health behaviors, often leading to misinformation or skewed perceptions of wellness. As a student, she was actively involved in on-campus organizations dedicated to wellness advocacy and community support, where she promoted initiatives around mental health, nutrition, and accessible health education. These experiences have refined her skills in research, project management, and content creation, which she now uses to educate others on the benefits of holistic health practices.

She is particularly focused on supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who may face systemic barriers to quality healthcare. Through her programs, content, and advocacy, Mia strives to create inclusive wellness spaces that empower individuals to take control of their health and reclaim a sense of agency. Her ultimate goal is to build a more holistic and accessible model of health education—one that bridges the gap between modern medicine and traditional wisdom, and fosters resilience, empowerment, and well-being for all.
