# Randy Moss Has Cancer: Cancerous Mass Found In NFL Legend's Bile Duct

Football legend Randy Moss has cancer.

The NFL Hall of Famer revealed in an Instagram [post](https://www.instagram.com/randygmoss/reel/DDiPrXARNHL/) Friday that he is battling cancer. Wearing a "Team Moss: Let's Moss Cancer" shirt with a lavender ribbon, a symbol of awareness for all types of cancers, the former star athlete proudly announced that he is a "cancer survivor" after undergoing surgery that kept him in the hospital for six days.

"Your boy is a cancer survivor," Moss said in the video with his two sons.

"Some trying times but you know, we made it through and for that, I thank you all."

The six-time Pro Bowler knew something was wrong when he noticed a change in the color of his urine. Doctors later found a cancerous tumor in his bile duct, between his pancreas and liver.

Moss will still undergo further treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation, but said he's already recovering from the disease, [NBC News](https://www.nbcnews.com/sports/football/randy-moss-announces-battling-cancer-rcna184225) noted.

Moss, who was aided by a cane, thanked the people who helped him through his health battle--his doctors, family, friends, fans, and prayer warriors.

Earlier this month, the ESPN football analyst [announced](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/randy-moss-steps-away-espn-revealing-internal-health-issue-rcna183196) that he would take an "extended time off" his post to deal with "health challenges."

Known for “The Moss Effect,” the 14-year [veteran wide receiver](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/1433/randy-moss) played for five NFL teams, including the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots. A five-time NFL receiving touchdown leader and four-time First Team All-Pro, Moss is regarded as one of the best wide receivers of all time.
